Uttarkashi Disaster: 1,308 rescued, 68 still missing

The search operation for missing persons continues in the disaster-hit Dharali-Harsil region of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. So far, authorities have successfully rescued 1,308 individuals. The district administration has issued a list identifying 68 people still unaccounted for, including 25 of Nepali origin.

As the weather improved earlier today, relief teams airlifted supplies, including food and other essentials, from the Matli helipad to those in need. Concurrently, teams from the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam and the Irrigation Department are working to manually drain the lake formed on the Bhagirathi River near Harsil helipad due to the disaster. Efforts are being intensified to restore essential services and rebuild infrastructure in the region.
