Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has alleged that due to the ongoing crackdown on child marriage in Assam, a 16-year-old mother died after developing complications during childbirth.
According to Gogoi, there were no ASHA workers or community when she was birthing the child as her family was scared that workers may report the matter to the govt.
Speaking to ANI, Gogoi said, "girls under 18 who are pregnant are choosing to deliver their child at home, not going to the hospitals because they are afraid of getting their fathers & husbands arrested.
