Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak attended the fifth and final T20I match of the series between India and England at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. He was accompanied by his father-in-law and Infosys chief Narayana Murthy.

India, powered by Abhishek Sharma’s all-round performance, secured a commanding 150-run victory over England, clinching the five-match series 4-1.

Taking to X, Sunak acknowledged the tough day for England but congratulated Team India for their resounding victory in the final match. He shared that it was a pleasure watching the match with his father-in-law, Narayana Murthy.

"Tough day for England at the Wankhede but I know our team will come back stronger. Congratulations to Team India on the win. Despite the result, it was an honour to meet @josbuttler and @surya_14kumar before the match and a pleasure to watch the cricket with my father-in-law," Sunak wrote on X.

In the match, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. Abhishek Sharma delivered a spectacular knock of 135 runs off 54 balls (7 fours, 13 sixes), helping India post an imposing 247/9. Brydon Carse led the England bowling attack with a three-wicket haul, while Mark Wood bagged two wickets.

In England’s chase, opener Philip Salt stood out with a knock of 55 runs off 23 balls (7 fours, 3 sixes), but the rest of the team faltered. India's bowlers excelled, bundling out England for just 97 runs with 9 overs remaining.

On the same day, Rishi Sunak enjoyed some cricket in Mumbai, participating in a lively tennis ball match as onlookers watched him play.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, "No trip to Mumbai would be complete without a game of tennis ball cricket."

A day earlier, Sunak attended the Jaipur Literature Festival with his wife Akshata Murthy and in-laws Sudha Murthy and Narayan Murthy.

The Jaipur Literature Festival posted on X, "At the Jaipur Literature Festival 2025, an animated discussion takes place between an iconic mother and her daughter, where the two women share insights into their lives, the choices they make, and the paths they take. A dialogue showcases their intelligence, charm, and iron resolve."

Rishi Sunak served as Prime Minister from October 25, 2022, to July 5, 2024. Prior to this, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 13, 2020, to July 5, 2022, Chief Secretary to the Treasury from July 24, 2019, to February 13, 2020, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government from January 9, 2018, to July 24, 2019.
