Cricketer Rishabh Pant's claim that he met with a severe accident while avoiding a pothole has been contested by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

An NHAI official told news agency PTI on 2 January 2023 that there are no potholes on the road where the accident occurred. He added that the stretch is slightly narrow due to an adjacent canal.

The NHAI official also rejected news reports which claimed that potholes near the accident site were filled a day after Pant's accident.

The cricketer survived a major car crash on 30 December 2022 on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
