In a huge setback, Gujarat High Court on Tuesday refused to provide interim protection to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname defamation case.

A lower court convicted Gandhi in the case and sentenced him to 2 years of jail on March 23. The conviction and sentencing cost him his MP status.

Following this, the former Wayanad MP moved the high court. The court has now reserved its order in the case and is likely to announce it in June.

Further details awaited.
