The counting of ballot papers to determine who will be India's next President will be conducted at Parliament House today. The counting is expected to begin at 11am.
Over 4,800 MPs and MLAs voted on July 18 to choose between BJP-led NDA’s nominee Droupadi Murmu and joint Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
The votes are believed to be stacked in favour of Murmu, who, if elected, will be the first tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post in the country.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee had over 6.67 lakh votes after the support of various regional parties, out of a total of 10,86,431 votes. There was some cross-voting as well during the elections.

Kovind’s tenure is ending on July 24 and the new president will take oath on July 25.
