Losing weight clearly has health benefits but for Anil Firojiya, the BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain it is not just about that. Losing weight is also a way to get central government funds for his Lok Sabha constituency.

This story began to unfold months ago, when during a gathering the MP took up the weight-losing challenge thrown at him by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Firojiya had been demanding funds for his constituency but to no avail. Gadkari then came up with a solution, stating that his constituency will receive Rs 1000 crores for each kilogram of weight the the Ujjain MP loses.

Firojiya stood up to the challenge and if Gadkari keeps his promise, Ujjain is to get Rs 6000 crore as development fund so far.
