Suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma gets license to carry personal gun amid death threats

Nupur Sharma, former BJP spokesperson who kicked up a storm for her controvesial remarks on Prophet has been granted personal gun licence.

Sharma, according to the Delhi Police had applied for the license amid constant death threat over her comments. Sharma was suspended last year after a massive row erupted when she made a derogatory comment about the Prophet on a television channel debate in 2022. The saffron party later suspended the her.

Violent outrage was witnessed in several parts of India demanding action against Nupur Sharma. Notably, the Supreme Court of India in July had directed Sharma to apologise for irresponsible behaviour.
