Police on Friday detained Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Shashi Tharoor and several others during their protest against inflation and GST.

Adorning black attire, Congress MPs staged a protest in the Parliament House complex in the presence of party chief Sonia Gandhi. They raised slogans as they sought withdrawl of GST on essential items. Delhi Police, on the other hand, prevented them from marching further, therefore foiling their plan of moving towards Rashtrapati Bhavan

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that some of the party MPs were beaten up by police and added that democracy was being murdered in the country. Meanwhile, Opposition 's nationwide protest against price hike continues
