As the Congress party reels from a series of high-profile exits, leader Rahul Gandhi is preparing for his 148-day Bharat Jodo Yatra. Gandhi will reportedly sleep in a shipping container cabin at night during the Yatra.

The Congress leader will be walking from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in the 3,500-km march which will begin on 7 September. The container cabins are likely to reach Kanyakumari by 5 September, as per an NDTV report.

A series of election defeats, coupled with exit of senior leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad has put the Congress on the backfoot even as other Opposition parties step up their efforts to form a joint front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The party is also preparing for internal elections, in which the next party president will be chosen.
