The political war of words over RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks regarding Islam and Muslims intensified with Asaduddin Owaisi objecting to the comments.
The chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party on 11 January 2023 asked, "Who is Mohan (Bhagwat) to give Muslims 'permission' to live in India or follow our faith?"
Owaisi added that Muslims in the country are Indians because "Allah willed it", and Bhagwat cannot put conditions on their citizenship. "We're not here to "adjust" our faith or please a bunch of alleged celibates in Nagpur," he said.
