BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has claimed that 38 TMC MLAs are in regular touch with the saffron party and 21 of them are in direct contact with them.

The TMC has dismissed the actor’s claims as dreams and wished him luck

TMC MP Santanu Sen meanwhile referred to reports of Mithun Chakraborty being admitted to a hospital and said that the actor-turned-politician was probably hospitalised because he was mentally ill.

The war of words between the two parties has erupted at a time when reports of rift within the TMC have been doing rounds.  In February this year, TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had dissolved party's all national-level portfolios including her nephew Abhishek Banerjee's national general secretary post therefore activating the 'old guard vs new guard' speculation.
