MCD: BJP decides to contest for mayor, deputy mayor post despite losing to AAP in civic election

After a series of contradictory statements, the Bharatiya Janata Party has reportedly decided to contest the election for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The BJP is fielding Rekha Gupta, councillor from Shalimar Bagh, for the post of mayor. Kamal Bagri, councillor from Ram Nagar, has been selected as candidate for the deputy mayor's post.

In the recent polls, the BJP won 104 seats, but lost to the Aam Aadmi Party which won 134 in the 250-ward body.
