The Congress party on Thursday announced a series of promises for Delhi residents ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, including a gas cylinder priced at Rs 500, free ration kits, and 300 units of free electricity.

This marks the party’s fourth such guarantee. Speaking at a press conference, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged voters to support Congress in the upcoming polls, promising to implement five major guarantees if elected.

Reddy sharply criticized both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for failing to improve the living conditions in the capital despite being in power multiple times.

"There is no difference between Modi and Kejriwal, their names are different but their actions are the same—lying. Modi has been the Prime Minister three times, and Kejriwal has been the Chief Minister three times, but what have they done for Delhi? Today, Delhi is not suitable for living. I urge the people of Delhi to vote for Congress, and we will fulfill the five guarantees," he said.

In addition to this announcement, on January 12, Congress revealed its third guarantee, the 'Yuva Udaan Yojana,' which promises to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 8,500 to educated, unemployed youth in Delhi for one year, should the party win the upcoming election.

Prior to this, on January 8, Congress had introduced the 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana,' offering Rs 25 lakh health insurance coverage to residents. Earlier on January 6, the 'Pyari Didi' scheme was launched, promising Rs 2,500 to women in Delhi.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. The last date to file nominations is January 17, followed by scrutiny on January 18 and withdrawal by January 20.

Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced a decline in the past two elections, failing to win any seats. Meanwhile, the AAP claimed a decisive victory in 2020, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured just eight.
