Weeks after joining Rahul Gandhi in his Bharat Jodo Yatra, former governor of the Reserve Bank of India Raghuram Rajan revealed why he participated in the Congress party programme.
Rajan on 2 January 2023 said that he marched with Gandhi not as a former public servant or economist, but as a "concerned citizen". The former RBI chief said that he wanted to support those "walking the length of India to strengthen national unity and communal harmony".
He walked with Gandhi in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur on 14 December 2022.
Meanwhile, the Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed on 3 January 2023 after a break of 9 days as Rahul Gandhi headed from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh. The march began in September from Kanyakumari with Kashmir as the final destination.
