BBC's Modi documentary: ex-defence minister AK Antony's son quits Congress posts, slams 'hypocrisy'

Anil K Antony, the son of former Defence minister and Congress veteran AK Antony, announced his resignation from party posts on 25 January 2023.

His resignation came a day after he criticised those supporting the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 2002 Gujarat riots. Antony had said that reiterating BBC's views was setting a dangerous precedent and undermining India's sovereignty.

On 25 January, he said that he had received "intolerant calls" to retract his earlier tweet by those "fighting for free speech". He added that he was receiving hate messages by those claiming to support Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra as a "trek of love".
