In a big setback to the Indian family of baby Ariha, a German court has denied the custody of a 27-month-old baby girl to her parents. The custody of Ariha Shah has been handed over to Germany's Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt), as per NDTV.

The court even dismissed the claim of her parents that the injury sustained by her was "accidental".

This comes days after India urged Germany to send back at the earliest an Indian baby girl who has been living in foster care in Berlin for over 20 months, asserting it is important for the child to be in her linguistic, religious, cultural and social environment.
