An IAS officer has been sacked from election duty for sharing pictures of him as an election observer in Gujarat.

Abishek Singh, an officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre shared pictures on Instagram of him joining as Ahmedabad observer for Gujarat elections.

Quoting sources, NDTV reported that the Election Commission removed the officer for 'bragging about his deployment' on social media.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the poll body reportedly relieved him as general observer and barred him from any election duty until further orders.

Singh, who was asked to report back to his home cadre has been replaced by another IAS officer.
