PM apologises to Mamata for absence at Vande Bharat launch; she responds

Citing personal reasons, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday apologised to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for not coming at the launch of Vande Bharat express in the state. He made the remark while flagging-off the train virtually.

Responding to PM’s apology, Mamata said his mother was like hers and suggested him to take some rest.

The Prime Minister virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat express connecting Howrah and New Jalpaiguri in the presence of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

He was earlier scheduled to visit West Bengal but could not following his mother's death Friday morning.

This is Bengal's first and country's seventh Vande Bharat express.
