Mangaluru murder: Fazil killing a conspiracy to avenge BJP worker's death, says police

Mangaluru Police on Tuesday said Mohammed Fazil was chosen as the target out of a list of 6 names to avenge the killing of BJP youth wing worker Praveen Nettaru.

Fazil was hacked to death on the night of July 28 on the outskirts of Mangaluru and the police have arrested 6 people so far.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said the 6 arrested individuals have gangster past and they had shortlisted Fazil's name following the murder of BJP youth wing leader. 

He added that the police is searching for the other 5 people whose names were on the target list.

Dismissing specualtion of a 'love affair', the police said it was  a clear case of pre-mediated murder where the weapon and target were deliberately picked.
