Watch: avalanche in J&K's Sonamarg, houses damaged; Indian Army helps in relief operations

An avalanche hit Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir on the night of 19 February 2023.

At least 9 houses were damaged, and 14 domestic animals perished in the avalanche in Rezan village in Ganderbal district. No human casualties were reported.

The Indian Army assisted the civil administration in relief operations on 20 February. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate said that people had been moved to safer locations, and work is underway to remove the debris.
