PM Modi security breach: Punjab CM orders action for 'major penalty'

In the case regarding a breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security in Punjab in January 2022, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against a former chief of the state police, and two other police officers.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on 20 March 2023 ordered initiation of proceedings for "major penalty" against former DGP S Chattopadhyaya, then-DIG Ferozepur Inderbir Singh, and then-SSP Ferozepur Harmandeep Singh Hans.

On 5 January 2022, PM Modi cancelled his events in Punjab after his convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protestors.
