In fresh trouble for comedian Munawar Faruqui, the right-wing group Vishwa Hindu Parishad has sought cancellation of his upcoming show in Delhi. VHP and Bajrang Dal reportedly wrote to Delhi Police threatening a protest if Faruqui's show on 28 August 2022 is not cancelled.

Recently, Faruqui's stand-up event in Karnataka's Bengaluru slated for 19 August was cancelled. While Bengaluru police denied permission for the show, the comedian cited health reasons. However, his show in Telangana's Hyderabad caused a controversy, but evaded cancellation.

Right-wing groups have accused Faruqui of insulting and mocking Hindu gods and goddesses. Faruqui earlier spent a month in jail after a performance in Madhya Pradesh's Indore.
