A man claiming to be an eyewitness of the accident which killed Deep Sidhu spoke to editorji and described the entire incident. Mohammad Yusuf said that his car was right behind Deep Sidhu's when the accident occurred.

Actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu was in a Mahindra Scorpio car with his friend Reena Rai when the vehicle hit a moving truck from behind, the witness claimed. The accident occurred at the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal, or KMP, expressway near Delhi on February 15.

Yusuf said, "I was driving from Punhana to Panipat. At the KMP expressway, a Scorpio car was involved in an accident. Deep Sidhu was in the car. My car was behind the Scorpio. When the accident occurred, I stopped my car and pulled out the truck driver. I used the truck driver's phone to call 112. The ambulance arrived after 15 minutes. In the meantime, I pulled the woman (Reena Rai) out. She was conscious and talking. She gave me the phone number of Deep Sidhu's brother. When I called him, he said he's sending someone from Delhi. He said that person would arrive in an hour. A crowd gathered at the spot. Deep Sidhu and the woman were taken in an ambulance. Their belongings were kept in the ambulance. Their car had hit a 10-12-wheeler container truck. The driver fled after the call to 112 was made."

When asked about Sidhu's state when he was pulled out of the car, the witness said, "Both were breathing. Reena was okay except an injury around the waist. The car was being driven at 110-120 km/h. It hit the container from behind. There wasn't any overtaking bid. It hit a moving truck."

Sidhu was an accused in the violence that occurred on Republic Day 2021 amid a tractor rally by protesting farmers in Delhi.
