Andhra Pradesh: Drunk man slaughters human instead of goat at animal sacrifice fest

A religious ritual went horribly wrong and left a man dead in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district on Sunday.

A man, who was supposed to slaughter a goat ended up slaughtering a man during an animal sacrifice during the Sankranti celebrations, reports said.

The accused, Chalapathi, was supposed to carry out the animal sacrifice and cut the goat’s head. According to the police, Chalapathi was drunk at the time of the sacrifice and cut the throat of Suresh, who was holding the animal.

The animal sacrifice was organised at the local Yellamma temple.

Suresh, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to Madanpelle government hospital where he was declared dead.

Chalapathi has been arrested by the police.
