Protests over the Agnipath scheme introduced by the Modi government erupted in Madhya Pradesh's Indore with demonstrators indulging in stone-hurling clashes.
Indore police commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra said the protesters forced the railway authorities to stop some trains.
When the situation went out of control, police used tear gas shells and batons to disperse the mob.
Two police officers received minor injuries, and so far police have arrested 15 protestors.
