Karnataka election: Congress names Bajrang Dal, PFI while promising to ban hate outfits

Religious issues continue to dominate the Karnataka election discourse. A day after the ruling BJP promised the implement the Uniform Civil Code if it wins, the Opposition Congress party vowed to ban organisations which "spread hatred".

The Congress on May 2, 2023 said it would not allow outfits like Popular Front of India or Bajrang Dal to "promote enmity".

Among other things, the party's manifesto promised ₹2,000 every month to women heads of families, 200 units of free electricity to all, and ₹3,000 every month for two years to unemployed graduates.
