Incidents of buildings getting damaged due to 'sinking' land in Joshimath were raised in the Supreme Court on 10 January 2023.

However, the top court refused to have an urgent hearing in the matter. The judges said that everything which is important does not need to come to the apex court.

They added that democratically-elected institutions are looking into the Joshimath matter.

The issue has been posted for hearing on 16 January.
