It's official: Siddaramaiah CM of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar Deputy CM, says Congress

After 5 days of suspense and speculation, the Congress party officially announced the resolution of the tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the Chief Minister's throne in Karnataka.

While addressing a press conference on May 18, 2023 party leader KC Venugopal said that Siddaramaiah will be the next CM, while Shivakumar will be Deputy CM.

He added that Shivakumar will be the sole Deputy CM. He will also continue as the chief of the party's Karnataka unit till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections conclude.
