Garba in UNESCO heritage list: Indian-Americans celebrate at Times Square | Watch

A day after UNESCO approved the inclusion of Gujarat's traditional Garba dance in its 'Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity', the Indian-American community marked the celebration by performing Garba at Times Square in New York on December 7.

In the video, it can be seen that the Indian-American community was seen performing with excitement in New York. People were all decked up to mark the celebration of this news. 

As the news of Garba's inclusion on UNESCO's list came to light, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to this by saying, "Garba is a celebration of life, unity and our deep-rooted traditions. Its inscription on the Intangible Heritage List showcases to the world the beauty of Indian culture. This honour inspires us to preserve and promote our heritage for future generations. Congrats on this global acknowledgement."
