US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti compared Delhi's pollution to Los Angeles' and said that it brings back memories of growing up in Los Angeles as the air was very polluted there in the past. US envoy on Thursday attended an event in Delhi where he talked about Delhi's air pollution.
Eric Garcetti said, "On a day like this in Delhi, it brings back memories of growing up in Los Angeles where the air was the most polluted air anywhere in America."
He further said, "We were given warnings by our teachers that you cannot go outside to play, just as my daughter was given by her teacher today as I dropped her off to school."
Internet users started reacting to his statement and said that they want solutions not nostalgia. It is also worth noting that smog is blanketing Delhi for the third consecutive day and several parts of Delhi recorded the air quality in severe zone.
The Indian Meteorological Department's officials have warned that there is going to be a spike in pollution in the national capital in the coming days.
