BJP MP Gautam Gambhir to quit politics to focus on cricket

BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on 2nd March announced that he has decided to quit politics. The cricketer-turned-politician is currently a member of the Lok Sabha from East Delhi.

In a social media post, Gambhir said he has requested BJP chief JP Nadda to relieve him of his political duties so that he can focus on his upcoming cricket commitments.

He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for giving him the opportunity to serve people.

Gambhir's decision comes months ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
