Surge pricing by airlines: Parliamentary panel asks govt to cap airfares

A parliamentary panel has asked the Narendra Modi government to ensure that airlines do not indulge in predatory pricing under the garb of free market economy.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture asked the civil aviation ministry to cap the upper and lower levels of airfares.

In the report tabled in Parliament on 13 March 2023, sought a "perfect balance" between interests of the airlines and the passengers, so that the latter are not "fleeced".
