Gyanvapi mosque survey resumes amid heavy security

The Archaeological Survey of India resumed the survey of Gyanvapi mosque on August 4 after an order of the Allahabad High Court. 

Heavy security was in place in and around the area leading up to the mosque. Multiple checkpoints and barricades were put up. 

The Allahabad High Court on August 3 rejected the mosque committee's plea against the survey saying that it was in the interest of justice to determine if the structure was built on a temple.
