India continues to maintain a downward trend in daily Covid-19 cases after the number of cases hovered above 300,000 in the deadly second wave of the infection. 2.76 lakh new Covid cases were reported in a 24-hour span, the Union health ministry data showed on Thursday morning.
Over 20.55 lakh samples were tested for the infection in the last 24 hours, accounting for the highest single-day tests so far
India also saw a dip in the daily Covid death toll with 3,874 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. This comes days after the country has been witnessing a surge in daily fatalities.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Around 57.64 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states.
