The Ministry of Science & Technology has deregulated the geospatial data generation and map-making process in a bid to promote the self-reliant India initiative. The new liberalised policy aims to enable Indian innovators and startups to create substantial advances in mapping, ultimately empowering small businesses. Furthermore, less restrictions in geospatial mapping could lead to improvements in space technology and disaster mapping, and benefit a range of sectors from farming and infrastructure.
