Former Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen will retire at the end of the current season. The Iceman as he is fondly called has a career that spanned two decades including a 2007 world championship.
The Finnish superstar announced his retirement on Instagram as he prepares for the Dutch Grand Prix.
The racer has clocked 21 career wins from 341 starts in Formula 1 as he made his debut at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix. Raikkonen has driven for a variety of teams including Sauber, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus and Alfa Romeo. He also took a break from F1 in 2010 and ended up making a debut in Rallying. His exit from Formula 1 will open up a seat at Alfa Romeo after 3 years for the 2022 season.
