Belonging to the mulberry family, figs have a unique taste and a soft and chewy texture that may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But these health benefits may make you change your mind about this heavenly fruit!

The fresh fruit is often dried to extend its shelf life and anjeer is actually healthier than the fresh figs. It is recommended that you eat them early in the morning on an empty stomach.

Figs are high in natural sugars as well as minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and copper. The high-fibre content in figs makes them a great natural laxative and even makes you feel full for longer. They also contain prebiotics that supports the good bacteria in your gut, improving digestive health.

Figs are also great sources of vitamin A, E and K. If you’re having them fresh, you can pair them with cheese or Greek yoghurt! You can even make a fig jam as they are extremely sweet naturally but the best way to have them is in the dried fruit form.
