Former UP governor Aziz Qureshi was booked for sedition on Sunday for allegedly passing derogatory remarks against UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
The case was registered on the complaint of BJP leader Akash Saxena in the Civil Line police station of UP's Rampur district.
In his complaint, Saxena alleged that Qureshi, who was a senior congress party member, had compared the Chief Minister to a "blood-sucking demon" and went on to add that such remarks can create tension between 2 communities and lead to unrest in society.
The complaint came after Qureshi, the former governor of Mizoram, visited SP leader Azam Khan's wife Tanzeen Fatima at her residence on Sunday. Later, while addressing media, the 81-year-old politician called the UP government a 'devil' in reference to cases filed against Azam Khan.
