Former Union minister Jaswant Singh passed away on Sunday at the age of 82. He was admitted to hospital on June 25 and was being treated for sepsis associated with multiorgan dysfunction. Singh had a cardiac arrest on Sunday, his Covid-19 report was negative.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted saying Singh served our nation diligently, first as a soldier and later during his long association with politics, adding that in the Vajpayee govt, he handled crucial portfolios and left a strong mark in the worlds of finance, defence and external affairs.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, deeply pained by the passing away of veteran BJP leader and former Minister, adding that Singh served the nation in several capacities including the charge of Raksha Mantri, he distinguished himself as an effective Minister and a Parliamentarian.
