Amid rising number of COVID cases in Guwahati, Sentinel Assam did a fact check on the availability of beds, oxygen cylinders, PPE and testing kits for COVID patients in some of the leading private hospitals of the city. Beds in Government hospitals like the GMCH and MMCH are already full. Even paying cabins at GMCH are not available. Meanwhile, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the state could see 75,000 new COVID cases in September alone. Total cases in the state is already at 1,33,066. The state has 29,163 active cases. Another worrisome factor is that several senior citizens are now testing positive for the virus. Already 18 residents of two old age homes of Guwahati has tested positive.
