It was a crazy night of football at Euro 2020 as World Champions France were knocked out of the competition on penalties by Switzerland in the round of 16. The star-studded lineup of the world champions saw them score through Karim Benzema and Paul Pogba. Switzerland took the early lead with a 15th min goal but France fought back through a quick brace from Benzema in the 2nd half. Switzerland did manage to equalise soon by Pogba's strike almost sank the Swiss side. With France leading 3-2, it looked all over till Mario Gavranovic's 90th min strike pushed the game into extra time and then the penalties. Both teams scored their opening four shots but World Cup hero Kylian Mbappe missed from the spot as Switzerland converted their last attempt to win the game 5-4 on penalties as they next play Spain in the quarterfinals.
