Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is awaiting the release of her upcoming Telugu film ‘Shaakuntalam’, recently visited the Pazhani temple in Tamil Nadu. Pictures and videos from her visit are being widely shared on social media. The actor climbed 600 steps barefoot and lit camphor on every step as part of a ritual to reach the temple top.
Director Prem Kumar, with whom she worked on the Telugu film ‘Jaanu’, joined her on the trip. Police were also seen managing the crowd at the temple.
Samantha donned a simple salwar suit and also sported a black face mask during her visit.
‘Shaakuntalam’, which was originally supposed to release in cinemas this week, will now hit screens worldwide on April 14. Samantha plays the role of Shakuntala, daughter of Menaka and Viswamithra. The film, produced and directed by Gunasekhar, will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen on screen in Telugu action-thriller ‘Yashoda’. The film was a hit at the box office and it grossed around ₹40 crore during its theatrical run.
