‘Elephant Whisperers’ Bomman and Bellie were felicitated by President Droupadi Murmu on July 18 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The president praised the couple for devoting their life to taking care of orphaned baby elephants.

‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won in the Documentary Short Subject category at the 95th Academy Awards. Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, the documentary film shows a beautiful bond between Raghu, an orphaned baby elephant, and his caretakers - a mahout couple named Bomman and Bellie. The couple devote their lives to protect him from poachers and raise him.
