‘Oppenheimer’ is gathering negative response from a particular section of audience due to the Bhagavad Gita link in a scene..
Controversy was stirred even before the premiere of the film. It earned the first R-rating of a Christopher Nolan film in 20 years for nudity and sexuality.
This is Nolan’s first film that has a sex scene. According to reports the director felt it was important to accurately portray J. Robert Oppenheimer’s (Cillian Murphy) life and his passionate relationship with Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh). But it seems that many have found the scenes offensive.
Although Oppenheimer was fascinated with Sanskrit scriptures, but he never considered himself a conventional Hindu.
This is factually true that Oppenheimer was reminded of a quote from Bhagwad Gita when he first saw the explosion of the atomic bomb but the sex scene from the film where Tatlock asks Murphy to recite the Bhagavad Gita during the act still remains doubtful.
