Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan shared that he watched ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ with his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan and a few friends on June 30. The superstar, portraying Ashwatthama, visited an IMAX theatre in Mumbai to view the film, mentioning it had been a while since he last attended a movie outing. Big B also posted photos from his cinematic experience on his blog.
Amitabh mentioned visiting a city theatre after his customary Sunday meeting with fans at Jalsa. He admitted it was his first time seeing the final cut of the Nag Ashwin directorial.
‘A Sunday of Sundays .. the well wishers at GOJ and then to Kalki with some friends to see on big screen .. seeing film for first time .. and the experience of an IMAX, and the facilities and environ at the theatre .. so impressive , the elegance and aesthetics in the facility .. had not been out for years .. but so satisfying to be out to witness all the progress,’ Amitabh wrote on his blog.
‘Gatsby .. and son fooling around .. and the IDFC bank ad., that Abhishek and I did .. so much to say .. but its getting to 5:16 am .. and Shujaat Hussain Khan on repeat .. ऐ री सखी, पिया घर आये अहह aha ha .. one does not wish the night to end .. just the , the emotion the singing and his sitar together .. aaahh .. music .. the chord that connects us to the Almighty .. sublime,’ he added.
Amitabh appeared to have gone to watch the film with only his son. His other family members — Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aaradhya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Agastya Nanda, and Navya Naveli Nanda — were not seen in the pictures.
Big B starred alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in the sci-fi film. The film has grossed an estimated box office collection of Rs 500 crores worldwide in just four days.
Earlier, Amitabh had expressed surprise at Nag Ashwin’s innovative approach to the film. During a recent press conference for the film’s promotion, Amitabh humorously recalled his initial reaction to Nag Ashwin’s concept of ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’
‘When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, I was left thinking for a long time after he left, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’’ Amitabh quipped, leaving Rana and his other co-stars amused.
‘To witness something so audacious, with visuals that are truly extraordinary, is remarkable. To have someone conceive a project so futuristic and feasible... and during the filmmaking process, to see that everything he envisioned, every effect, every vision, was brought to life on screen, has been truly incredible. Being a part of it is an experience I will always cherish,’ he added.
