After Marvel fans celebrated the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU, fans of the DC Universe also have something to rejoice. James Gunn has announced a wrap on the production of the upcoming movie 'Superman: Legacy'. In a heartfelt social media post, Gunn expressed his earnest gratitude to everyone who was a part of the production team, sharing a photo from the first week of the shooting in Svalbard, Norway, that captured the early moments of their thrilling journey.

James Gunn's heartwarming note for fans

“And that’s a wrap,” Gunn announced on Instagram. “God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life.” Reflecting on the emotional turmoil of creating the film, he said, “I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor."

Highlighting the significance of the journey rather than just the destination, he added, “The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful."

About the upcoming film

Starring David Corenswet in the titular role, 'Superman: Legacy' is slated for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.  The star-studded cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
