'RRR' starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR won hearts all across the globe. The film was a major critical and commercial success. Now, the film's director SS Rajamouli has garnered Best Director Award at The New York Film Critics Circle on Friday. Many ace filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, Darron Aronofsky, Sarah Polley were in the race alongside Rajamouli.

The team of RRR took to Twitter and expressed their gratitude for this enormous win. '@SSRajamouli wins the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Award for the Best Director! @NYFCC. Words can't do justice to describe how happy and proud we are...Our heartfelt thanks to the jury for recognising #RRRMovie', they tweeted.

Despite being a huge success worldwide, the film was not chosen as India's official entry for Oscars 2023. The markers later decided to apply in individual categories, so they applied 'RRR' in 14 categories under 'For your consideration' campaign.  The team has asked for consideration in main categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress among others.

RRR also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. The film was released in theatres in March this year. The film collected over ₹1200 crore worldwide.
