Singer-actor Nick Jonas appeared on Andy Cohen’s talk show along with his brothers Joe and Kevin. On the show, he disclosed how he slid into Priyanka Chopra’s DMs in 2016 and proposed that they should meet up. He also showed the first message he sent to her on camera.
A fan asked Nick what he actually texted Priyanka, and if he had ever slid into others’ DMs before her. Nick replied, ‘Life before Priyanka is a distant memory. It doesn’t exist.’
When the host asked the singer what he said to Priyanka, Nick pulled his phone out of his pocket, pulled up his DMs, and showed the message to the camera.
‘I said something to the effect of, ‘Hey, I know we have a lot of things in common, friends in common, and I think we should meet’. And she right away responded, ‘Nice to meet you, let’s get off DM, let’s go to text. My team might be watching,’ he recalled
He admitted, ‘I’m sure there were DMs previously, but the only one that mattered was my wife.’
In a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Priyanka revealed that she was in a relationship when Nick texted her in 2016, slid into her DM and they started chatting.
‘I was at the end of my last long relationship before Nick. I didn’t want to engage as much at the time. I was like 35, he was 25. I put a stop on it in a way because I judged the book by the cover. I said, ‘I wanna settle down. I have been there and done the fun days.’ I was like ready to get serious, not realising my husband was actually a 70-year-old man stuck in a 25-year-old’s body,’ she said.
Priyanka Chopra married Nick Jonas in 2018, and they welcomed their first child, daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, in 2022 via surrogacy.
