The 2022 Grammys are officially on hold.
The Recording Academy and CBS announced on Wednesday that the music award show will be postponed from its originally scheduled air date on January 31, 2022.
They said that ‘holding the show right now simply contains too many risks.
They revealed that a new date for 64th Grammys will be announced ‘soon’.
The news comes amid the global outbreak of the Covid-19 omicron variant.
This marks the second year in a row that the pandemic has forced the Grammys to postpone the award night.
Meanwhile, the multi-talented Jon Batiste is the leading nominee for this year’s honors, grabbing 11 nods. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. are tied for the second-most nominations with eight nods.
